Armagh Orange hall attacked

The Orange Hall in South Armagh was attacked in the picturesque village of Milford just outside Armagh.

The front of the building at Monaghan Street was splattered with brown paint, during the attack which police believe may have taken place on Tuesday 24th August.

The hall is situated in a cul-de-sac, which was once the main Armagh to Monaghan road before a new road was built to bypass the hall.

The front of the hall at Hill street was damaged with brown paint.

Condemning the attack, DUP Councillor and MLA. Bro Paul Berry said "This is yet another attack on our Protestant culture and on the Orange order in County Armagh. This is especially sickening as the hall in Milford has been the base for many charity fund-raising events which have helped many organisations."

Appealing against retaliation, Bro Berry urged anyone with information to contact the local police in Armagh.

"Milford is a peaceful village and someone may have noticed some type of suspicous activity in and around the hall. If sol they need to relay this to the PSNI. "I wish to assure the officers and brethren of my thoughts at this time," he said.

The Ulster Unionist MLA Bro Danny Kennedy, also expressed his anger at the paint bombing, He added "This is another attack on Protestant culture by people who wish to intimidate and annoy those who hold different religious beliefs."
